ANDAHUAYLILLAS - SISTINE CHAPEL OF AMERICA

Andahuaylillas is one of the most beautiful colonial villages of the region, situated 40 kilometers south of Cusco. This is the "San Pedro de Andahuaylillas" church, built in the XVII century is part of the cultural patrimony. It called "Sistine chapel of South America". The interior of the Church of San Pedro of Andahuaylillas is covered with Baroque art and many decorations. It has numerous and beautiful paintings of the "Escuela Cusqueña" or "Academy of Cusco". that makes this one of the most valuable jewels of the colonial art in Peru.

RAQCHI TEMPLE OF WIRACOCHA

The most prominent structure of the Raqchi ceremonial center built by Inca Pachacutec around the middle of the 15th century is the Temple of Wiracocha, an enormous rectangular two-story roofed structure that measures 92 m (302 ft) by 25.5 m (84 ft). That materials other than stone were used here speaks to the adaptability of Incan architects to the different resources and needs at each site.

RAYA PASS

The highest pass in southern Peru, on the way Cusco to Puno. Vendors had set up an outdoor market along the highway, with alpaca textiles framing the Andes beyond. Abra La Raya - 4,335 m.s.n.m (14,232ft) pass between the Cusco and Puno regions.

TEMPLE OF PUKARA

Pukara, located in the northwestern Lake Titicaca Basin of the Peruvian Altiplano (highlands) at an altitude of 3860 m (12664 feet), was the first population center to develop in this region during the Late Formative Period (200 BC- AD 200). The Pukara culture developed here about 1500 years before the Inca arrived. The archeological site can be seen below the mountain on the right side. The Iglesia de Santiago de Pupuja is a lovely Baroque church in Pukara in the Peruvian Altiplano (highlands) at an altitude of 3860 m (12664 feet). The church was built by the Jesuits and completed in 1767.
